Hello!

I'm Carmen Colombo, founder of WOW Zone, and it's my pleasure to welcome you. I'd like to take you on a little tour of our site and share the story behind it. I hope you enjoy it.

WOW Zone comes to you from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and is online since June 13, 1996. It's one of the most visited sites on the Internet and above all, it's a beacon of hope and a testimony of the good in the world.

WOW Zone is more than a positive website - it’s an interactive, fun, and thought-provoking handbook for life; a refreshing magazine with a powerful message of hope, peace and goodwill called WOW - Wish Only Well.

The contents are fresh, hopeful, fun and motivating. If you enjoy exercising your heart and mind, you'll be delighted with our ever growing selection of Stories, Poetry, Features and Special Projects, Links, and more, all offering fun and practical ideas for personal and social evolution.

WOW is powerful because it’s simple. It’s a fun and easy way to remember something good. That's why our motto - Wish Only Well - is adopted by schools, clubs, organizations and individuals worldwide.

The WOW Sign, 3 fingers forming a W for Wish Only Well, is an international greeting of peace and goodwill. It is also the REAL Peace Sign.

WOW Zone initiated the "Peace Education Project" and the "(r)evolution network", gathering places for pacifist advocates for peace and harmony in the home and in society. Our methods are different and innovative, and everyone is welcome to participate.

We also get news and Special Requests that you won't learn about in the mainstream media, or at least not immediately. Our high visibility and respectability around the world enables us to collaborate with countless international organizations, and we are proud to be the pro bono Webmaster of the Earth Day sitewww.earthsite.org.

But you may wonder, where did this all come from and why?

Because good things can evolve from bad situations. The fact that you are reading this proves it.

Years ago, I was in a very difficult and abusive relationship. In just a while, I went from being confident and cheerful to terrified and hopeless. I was constantly threatened by the one who claimed to love me, and felt like a hostage in my own home. Who said that words don't hurt? They may not leave scars but they wound the soul. When I finally gathered the courage and decided that it was enough, I left and never looked back.

Getting back into the social scene after such a traumatic experience was extremely hard. After much coaxing from a friend, I went to a club one night and, you guessed it, I ran into my ex. My immediate reaction when I saw him was to leave, because I didn't want to cause a scene. I was driving home feeling sorry for myself when I realized what I was doing, and I went back.

His face nearly dropped to the floor when I walked in the club. A few minutes later, I was chatting at the bar with some friends when he came right behind me and started yelling at me and calling me names.

The club was full and the music was very loud, but everyone stopped and listened to him go on and on. I remained silent throughout with my back to him, but shaking inside. He was getting more and more frustrated that I wasn't giving in to his intimidation, and finally he ended by saying that he wished me dead, and that I would be soon.

At that point, I turned around and calmly said to him: "It's really too bad that you feel this way, because I wish you only well."

Everyone was stunned, including me. I don't know where those words came from, but I said those words, and I felt free! I felt peaceful for the first time in a very long time. I felt like I could breathe again.

He was speechless. He stared at me for a while completely dumbfounded, and then he left the club. That was the last time that I ever saw him. I still wish him only well.

Words can wound, or they can heal. We make the choice, and the difference. I choose to Wish Only Well because it's not being passive about life, on the contrary. It's realizing that you reap what you sow, and that's a powerful realization.

Imagine knowing that everything you wish for others will come back to you - what would you wish?

Let there be WOW!

Through the years, whenever I thought about that story or told it to someone, I felt a sense of peace and personal power, and so did everyone who heard it. One night in 1995, it just clicked. I realized how those three words, "Wish Only Well", had changed my life. And I also realized that they were an acronym for WOW!

Soon afterwards I discovered the wonders of the Internet, and I knew that I had to share this powerful message so that it could help others. The rest, as they say, is history.

You are cordially invited to visit WOW Zone, and enjoy its contents. Then, picture yourself being a part of it and contact me.

Believe that you can make a difference, because it’s true. WOW Zone started with a few pages and now, "Wish Only Well" is even in the dictionary! Amazing things have happened in these last few years, and the best is yet to come.

I believe that "Wish Only Well" is a gift to humanity, something that must be shared.

I hope that you do too, and will pass it on.

WOW to you, wherever you are!
